Cleric tasks leaders on campaign promises

A clergyman Paul Nwozuzu of Saint John’s Anglican Church, Diocese, Owerri has admonished Nigerian leaders to endeavour to keep their campaign promises to the electorate.

Speaking in his Easter message Monday he charged politicians and leaders from sundry works to be truthful and committed to kind works for the sake of humanity.
“Nigerian leaders should keep to the words of their promises because this will save the society from the present decadence and corruption,” he said.
Nwozuzu attributed the present rot in the society to high rate of corruption among politicians. This has led to abandoned projects all over the country.
“It is sad that road projects awarded years ago are still not done and motorists have to drive on bad roads in spite of huge amounts of money paid out to contractors as mobilisation fees,” he said.
“This gives the impression that politicians can always do things and get away without any repercussion,” he said.
He called on Nigerians to emulate the life style of Jesus Christ as exemplified in the Holy Bible by having the fear of the Lord.
According to him, Jesus was tempted with on many occasions and he did not succumb and he eventually paid the supreme sacrifice with his life for mankind.(NAN)
