Client to Gov Bello: Release Otori Obaro unconditionally

Okene-based legal practitioner, Abdullahi Aliyu, has appealed to Kogi state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to prevail on the security agents in the state to release his client, Aliyu Otori Obaro.
Obaro was arrested and has been in detention at a military camp in Lokoja since February 5, 2018 over unsubstantiated allegations.
Otori is the son of a Second Republic Senator, Barr Isa Abonyi Obaro, who was at the Senate between 1979 and 1983.
In a letter by Obaro’s solicitors signed by Barr E I Omuya, and addressed to the state governor, his lawyers said some gun men who claimed to be Kogi state security operatives in two Hilux vans invaded Alhaji Salami Abu’s house located at plot No. 40 Idoji-Benin road, Onyukoko ward, Okene around 1:00 am and forcefully whisked Mr. Otori away.
“The armed men thereafter searched Otori’s room and the adjoining rooms, but found no gun or any other incriminating materials. They then blind folded him and forcibly took him away to an unknown place and without telling Alhaji Salami Abu the reasons for their abduction of Otori.
“A thorough investigation was carried out on our client and nothing incriminating was found on him. Yet, Otori is most certainly held in the military detention camp in Lokoja.”
The solicitors therefore appealed to the state governor, Yahaya Bello to facilitate the immediate and unconditional release of Otori, saying in the alternative, the man should “be arraigned in court for whatever charges made against him so that he can defend himself.”
