CLO, Foundation donate to prison inmates in Bayelsa

A non-governmental organisation (NGO), Nengi James Foundation, in collaboration with the Civil Liberties Organisations (CLO) in Bayelsa state, has donated various items to inmates of the Nigerian Prisons, Okaka, in the state.

At the presentation of the items, the founder of Nengi James Foundation, Chief Nengi James, said the gesture was part of the Foundation’s philanthropy policy to provide for the less privileged and those in need.
James noted that “government alone cannot address societal needs” and enjoined others “who are touched” to partner with government at all levels by way of charity.

He said: “The need for non-governmental organisations to assist government to cater for the needs of society prompted the Foundation and the Civil Liberties Organisations to embark on the charity mission to the Nigerian Prisons.”
Among the items donated were bags of rice, bags of beans, bags of garri, cartons of indomie noodles, bags of sachet water, detergents and packets of toilet soaps.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Nigerian Prisons management, the state Deputy Comptroller  of Prisons, Mr. Onokohwomo  Godwin, did not  only express appreciation to the Foundation and CLO, he enjoined other well-meaning  Nigerians and  corporate organisations to come the  aid of the inmates.
