CLO, NURTW urge Buhari to stop killings along East-west road

The Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO)and the National Union of Road Transport Workers’ Union (NURTW)have sent a protest letter to President Muhammad Buhari over alleged killings by suspected kidnappers along the East-West road between Bayelsa and Rivers states.

They appealed to the president to use his capacity as the Commnder-In-Chief and order the deployment of the Joint military Patrol team to stop the killing spree in the area.

The Former Secretary of the CLO, Comrade Morris Alagoa, noted that road users plying the East /West road are no longer safe especially along the Elele, Rumuekpe junction, Ndele , Rumuuji axis up to the Emouha local government headquarters in Rivers state.

He said “There is need for concerted efforts to bring this threat to a halt.  Passengers and other road users plying the East /Westroad are no longer at ease or safe.”
