CNG urges state of emergency in Zamfara

The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has called on the federal government to immediate imposition of state of emergency on Zamfara State because of the insecurity situation in the state.
The group said the situation has gone out of control alleging that the government of Governor Yari is overwhelmed and unable to arrest the spates of killings and cattle rustling in the state.
The call was made by the chairman of CNG, Zamfara state branch, Bilyaminu Badarawa at a press conference shortly after the National economic council Fact finding stakeholders meeting on security situation in Zamfara, chaired by the Ebonyi state governor Engr. David Nweze Umahi, in Gusau.
The coalition called for suspension of the existing political structure and its suggested its replacement with an interim sole administrators until the situation is controlled.
“Governor Abdulaziz Yari’s administration must be held responsible for the bloodshed and attendance lost of lives and properties do to his lack of concern for the safety of lives of vulnerable people in the state”, he stated.
The coalition described the federal government fact finding stakeholders security meeting in the state as political gathering as the committee failed to invited all the affected communities.
Accordingly, the coalition chairman warned that Zamfara killings must be stopped, and cautioned Governor Yari to rise up to his responsibility as the chief security officer of the state to arrest the dastardly acts of criminality in the state.
