COAS meets PSO’s, commanders, pledges professionalism, collaboration to tackle insecurity

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Maj.- Gen. Farouk Yahaya, says the  Nigerian Army under his command will collaborate with sister Services and other security agencies to tackle several security challenges confronting the nation. Maj.-Gen. Yahaya stated this Monday in Abuja during his maiden meeting with Principal Staff Officers  (PSOs) and Field Commanders of the Nigerian Army in Abuja on Monday.He also pledged to restore professionalism and provide examplary leadership for officers and men of the Nigeria Army.
According to him, his vision is to to lead  ” A professional Nigerian Army ready to accomplish assigned mission within a joint environment in defence of Nigeria. To achieve this goal, my command philosophy will rest on four pillars namely; professionalism, readiness, administration and cooperation.”” I recognize that my command of the Nigerian comes at a time when Nigeria is grabbling with several security challenges. Success will therefore depend on collective resolve and commitment of all as well as the cooperation of our sister services and all security agencies and indeed all other stakeholders with whom we must work in synergy.”Stability and lasting development of this country call for joint endeavors. It is with this great sense of responsibility and commitment that I hereby pledge to provide examplary and professional leadership for the Nigeria Army, serve as a rallying for all officers and men, to reposition the Nigerian Army, the largest service of our Armed Forces as an effective and dependable fighting force. Galvanize our troops for successes in all operations as well as serve the Nigerian Army loyally. “Maj.-Gen. Yahaya urged officers and men to do their best to ensure that the Army defeats the nation’s enemies because the President and the entire nation is counting on them.
“The commander in- Chief and fellow Nigerians have always placed their confidence in Nigeria Army to defeat  their adversiries, secure our territorial integrity and fortify our sovereignty in a decisive and sustained manner. Nigeria is as good as the strength of its Armed forces. All hands must therefore be on deck to ensure that Nigeria come out of its current quagmire as united, indivisible and prosperous nation state,” he said.
