COAS receives Covid-19 vaccine

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), .Lt-Gen Ibrahim Attahiru, has enjoined officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army and the general public to endeavor to be vaccinated against Covid-19.

Director Army Public Relations Brig.-Gen Mohammed Yerima in a statement on Friday, said the COAS stated this when he received first shot of Covid-19 vaccine in his office. 

According to the statement, a number of Principal Staff Officers at the Army headquarters including the Chief of Policy and Plans, Chief of Army Administration and Director of Army Public Relations equally took the first dose of the vaccine.

The statement added that members of the House of Representatives Committee on Army led by its chairman; Hon Abdulrasak Saad Namdas on Friday also paid a working visit to the COAS.

“The visit was their first time at the Headquarters since the appointment of Lt Gen Attahiru as the COAS. Upon arrival at the AHQ, the Committee members held a meeting with the Chief of Army Staff and Principal Staff officers at the Headquarters.

 The meeting provided opportunity for COAS and his PSOs to interact with the members of the Committee being the first of such platform since his assumption of office as the Chief of Army Staff,” the statement said.
