Come and get me, Ibrahimovic tells Manchester United

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has opened the door on a sensational return to Manchester United.

The 37-year-old left United 17 months ago to join MLS side LA Galaxy and has taken the league by storm, scoring 44 times in just 49 appearances.

Ibrahimovic, who has never been one to lack confidence, insists he would have no trouble still playing at the highest level in England and refused to rule out a return to United.

‘I could play easily in the Premier League,’ the striker said. ‘So, if United needs me, I’m here. But Galaxy has me so I’m sorry.

‘I did my job in Europe. I enjoyed it, I have 33 trophies that I brought with me here and hopefully I can get something here. Then we’ll see where that adventure finishes.’

A return for Ibrahimovic may be an attractive proposition for United at the moment with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer bereft of choices up front.

Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez have both left for Inter Milan, leaving United with just Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and 17-year-old Mason Greenwood as viable options.

Having failed to sign a replacement for Lukaku this summer, United may look to bolster their attack in January, and should Ibrahimovic come available he could possibly be a target.

The MLS season finishes in October while the play-offs and championship game will be played during November. The season does not restart again until March so LA Galaxy may be open to allowing Ibrahimovic to leave in their off-season for a short loan spell.

Ibrahimovic spent two years in Manchester before departing for Los Angeles.

In his absence, the club have slipped further behind rivals Manchester City and Liverpool and on Saturday they were beaten 2-1 at home by Crystal Palace.

‘I saw the last game and I think they were unlucky,’ Ibrahimovic added.
