A good samaritan, Bulus Isyaku, a commercial car driver has found and returned the sum of N420,000 to the owner of the forgotten money in his car.
Mr. Isyaku said the owner of the money, entered his car from Pankshing town in Pankshing local government area of Plateau State, on transit to Jos.
He said the passenger upon arring at the park of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), at Ahmadu Bello way Jos, he dropped and forget his sack in the boot of the car.
“Four days after I found the man’s bag in my boot, I gave the bag to officials of the Union at the park.After some days when I went back to Pankshing, I was told that some one has come saying he has forgotten his bag, I then come back to Jos, our officials opened the bag and we discovered that there was money in it,” he said.
According to Bulus, he returned the forgotten money because it was not his sweat, saying: “what does not belong to you does not belong to you and the lost money doesn’t belong to me.”
“When I realised that there was money inside the lost bag, I didn’t hesitate for a moment to hide the money for my own personal interest. I feel there was no gain in that.
“I am advising people and other commercial drivers to do same if find themselves in my situation. We all have to be good samaritans so as to change the narrative, ” he added.
The State council chairman of NURTW, Alhaji Muhammad Yusha’u, while handing over the amount of N420,000, at his office to the owner said, is to show to the world that, “our people are sincere that who ever entered car in our parks and lost something he will get it back.”
The owner of the money Mr. Ezemika Ukaku, said “I appreciated the courage of Mr Bulus and I believe that there are still good people in Nigeria.”
“I felt worried because that was the only money I have as capital for my business. I am into selling second hand clothes. I came to Jos to buy some clothes again for the next market. I will never forget what Bulus has done to me in my life. I am relaxed now,” he said.
Mr. Ukaku, said even though Mr. Bulus, is driving some ones car to earn a living, yet he dicided to returned the money back, adfing that he is a “good citizen,” he advised commuters to always enter cars at disignated parks.
