Commissioner tasks medical directors on professionalism

Kano state Commissioner of Health, Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim Getso has called on medical directors in charge of both secondary and primary health care facilities and other health workers to be up and doing in fulfilling their assigned professional responsibilities.
Getso made the call at the two day Bi- – annual meeting with medical personnel in charge of both facilities on Maternal and Prenatal Death Surveillance Response, (MPDSR) held in kaduna.
The meeting was jointly supported by the Kano state government, Saving One Million Lives (SOML) and Maternal Newborn and child Health 2 (MNCH2) which is targeted at reducing the maternal mortality or morbidity.
The commissioner charged the personnel and other heads of facilities to as a matter of urgency and seriousness look at the issue with a view to reducing the rate of mortality and morbidity, especially at birth.
He said government from its own side was doing all it could to support women in jettisoning complications associated with child delivery in times of pregnancy.
According to him, the Ganduje administration was very much concerned and disturbed by the alarming rate of Women death during the critical stage of service.
He added that health institutions located across the state are fully equipped with the state of the art facilities in order to accomplish the much pronounced task of entrenching a robust health care system.
He stated further that the Ganduje administration had demonstrated its commitment and consistent effort to collaborate with notable international development partners and relevant stakeholders in exploiting possible avenues to save one million lives courtesy of the scheme introduced to work towards that direction.
He stressed that the meeting was primarily convened to expose stakeholders and Medical practitioners in the health sector to the nitty-gritty of discerning and handling their respective professional responsibility with vigour.
