Committees not well-thought out

The way delegates tore into pieces the 20 committees of the Confab is an indication that the organizers did not do a thorough job of it. Prof Larababa, a delegate from Bauchi state suggested that education and employment should form the fulcrum of an independent committee. Presently she said, our education is not demand driven which accounts for the high unemployment rate in the country.

Aisha Ismail also suggested there should be a committee on corruption, because corruption has undermined us in many ways. Another delegate suggested that we have a committee on political economy, economic planning and development, economic sabotage. Ishaq Moddibbo Kawu representing the Nigeria Guild of Editors aligned his thoughts with having a committee on the politico-economy, adding that neo-liberal economic activities off selling off national assets have ruined the economy and the nation.
