Commonwealth games: Ministry announces closed camping kickoff

The Ministry of Youth and Sports development has announced that closed camping for athletes ahead of 2022 Commonwealth Games will officially commence on July 9, 2022.

This was disclosed in a press statement by the Ministry’s Director Press and Public Relations Mohammed Manga on Wednesday.

The statement reads, “Pursuant to its countdown on the 2022 Commonwealth Games (CWG), the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development has concluded arrangements for the closed camping of athletes in the following Federations: Athletics, Boxing, Judo, Para Athletics, Para Powerlifting,  Para Table Tennis, Table Tennis, Weightlifting and Wrestling begining from July 9, 2022 till the commencement of the Games.

“The athletes will be camped at Abuja, Lagos and Yenagoa.

“Thus, effective July 9, 2022, the Federations closed and open camps will dovetail into the Ministry’s preparations.”
