Commonwealth Games: Quadri, Abiodun, Toriola advance in T/Tennis singles

Nigeria’s Aruna Quadri on Wednesday defeated Brian Chan Yook from Mauritius in four sets in the men’s singles round of 32 at the ongoing 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in Australia.
Quadri, making his first appearance after illness, eased through to the round of 16 with a 4-0 win (11-4,11-8,11-4,12-10).
He will face Xue Jie Pang from Singapore in the men’s singles round of 16 on Thursday.
Also on Wednesday, Nigeria’s Bode Abiodun defeated Northern Ireland’s Liam Pitchford 4-1 in the men’s singles round of 32. He won the game 4-1 (13-11, 8-11,11-2,11-7,11-7).
Team Nigeria veteran Segun Toriola, 43, defeated Aaron Wilson from Trinidad and Tobago 4-1 in men’s singles round of 32 clash (11-7,11-1,10-12,11-3,11-3). He will face Sathiyan Gnanasekaran from India in the in the men’s singles round of 16 on Thursday.
