Communicable diseases: Delta govt. constitute emergency response system to tackle outbreaks

Delta State Government said it has constituted an effective and effi cient medical emergency response system to fight outbreak of any communicable diseases in the State.
The state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Mordi Ononye who stated this in Asaba, said this has led to the success recorded in managing outbreak of Lassa Fever, monkey pox and other related cases. According to him, “This administration has sponsored training of personnel on various programmes including control of diseases of public health importance which has been on-going.
This was well elucidated during the Lassa fever, which the ministry collaborated with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), the Federal Ministry of Health and the School of Disease Surveillance, Abuja, for particular training.” Dr. Ononye further stated that the governor has signed into law the Bill establishing the Delta State Schools of Nursing and Midwifery. He said that state government has approved N30million for renovation, and N60million to equip health facilities in Bomadi local government area of the state.
He further disclosed that the ministry has completed 250 bed space at the school of Nursing Agbor, equipped the auditorial of state school of Nursing Agbor and Administrative block Warri, for full accreditation of the school of Nursing. He stressed that the ministry’s policies and programme are tailored towards the state government SMART Agenda.
