Community health association begins nationwide sensitisation of Covid-19


The National Association of Community Health Practitioners of Nigeria (NACHN) has commenced nationwide sensitization campaign against COVID-19 in rural areas to prevent the outbreak of dreaded virus at the grassroots.

The association’s national publicity secretary, Comrade Elijah Alkali – Zakwoyi made this known in Abuja while speaking with newsmen on community health practitioners’ strategies of safeguarding rural dwellers from coronavirus in the country.

Alkali- Zakwoyi said the sensitization campaign centred on the practice of hand hygiene, respiratory hygiene, surfaces hygiene at home, practice of social distancing and intake of fruits.

“At this period of COVID-19 it is very important for all Nigerians most especially rural dwellers to regularly wash their hands with clean running water and soap, in between hands rub hand sanitizer, cough into tissue paper and dispose properly and sneeze into elbow.”

According to the association’s spokesman, the sensitization campaign would continue until coronavirus is finally eradicated in Nigeria.

He advised all Nigerians, most especially those at the grassroots to obey government’s directive on COVID-19 and imbibe good and hygiene sanitary environmental condition.

Alkali-Zakwoyi also advised Nigerians to report anyone with hotness of the body, continuous coughing, sneezing, sore throat to the closest health facility or call NCDC free toll number of 080097000010 or National Association of Community Health Practitioners of Nigeria on 08033363952 and 08067298213.
