Community leader advises youths against drug abuse

A community leader in Masaka and an Ambassador of Peace, William Yaji, has called on youths to desist from engaging in drug abuse and drug trafficking in order to remain focused on their educational pursuits.

Yaji made the call when a group of youths paid him a curtsey visit at Masaka, Karu local government area of Nasarawa state, at the weekend.

He lamented that drug abuse was destroying the future of youths, “who are otherwise very important personalities of tomorrow,” urging them to remain more focused in their studies in order to become useful to their families and the society.

According to him, the disadvantages of drugs on education include, impaired/ short term memory, inability to focus and reduced efficiency in carrying out normal school activities.

Speaking earlier, leader of the youth, Mr. Sani Mohammed Bako, said drugs usages and abuses had become very prevalent amongst the youth in the society today and thanked the community leader for his “fatherly advice.”
