Community leader apologises to retired judge over comment

A community leader in Nasarawa state, Alh Husseini Ibrahim, has apologised to retired court Judge Alkali Moddibo over comment urging Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura to intervene in a land tussle.
In a statement he issued, he said he regretted such comments and called for understanding and forgiveness.
Husseini said that the statement credited to him calling for intervention of the state governor was a misrepresentation of facts and thereby withdrew the statement.
He said: “I had cause to publish a land tussle between me [sic.] Alhaji Ibrahim Husseini and Alhaji Moddibo Alkali in which I, Alhaji Ibrahim Husseini, called for the intervention of his Excellency, Alhaji Tanko Almakura.
“It has now come to my attention that there is a misrepresentation of facts over the contents of the publication. I hereby retract the said publication and urge Governor Tanko Almakura and members of the public to disregard same.”
