Concerned Jos youth conduct free medical outreach 

Hundreds of women and children were, Monday, tested and treated in a free medical outreach carried out by the Concerned Jos Youth Association (COJOYA), at the local community of Bul-bula, Jos North local government area of Plateau state.

COJOYA chairman, Barr Buhari Shehu, said they deemed it necessary to conduct the end of year free medical outreach, targeting the vulnerable communities within Jos North.

“Looking at the poor medical services being delivered to the people made us to this year come into the Bulbula community to bring out the prevalent elements towards giving out consultation and medicine to the women and children,” he said.

Barr Buhari said the group is targeting at treating 200 to 250 people during the one-day programme.

The COJOYA medical team chairman, Dr Ahmad Sani Bala of the Federal Medical Centre Abuja, said besides consultations and providing medicines they were also took into record the prevalent diseases aimed at forwarding them to the nearest primary health care center in the Jos North LGA.

“We discovered that members of this community lack access to primary health care centers, and there are prevalent cases of malaria, ring worms, typhoid in them,” he said.

Dr. Ahmad said children have lots of fungal infections, which is causing scarves.

He said they invited 9 doctors but 12 turned out with nurses and pharmacists to give their contributions.
