Confab, an opportunity to restructure Nigeria – Fayemi

Governor of Ekiti state, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has said the forthcoming national conference “is an opportunity to restructure Nigeria in a way that will bring equity and justice to all Nigerians.”
He said the conference was very critical to the existence of a country “like Nigeria that is being bedeviled by multifarious challenges.”

Speaking during the inauguration of the six delegates that would represent Ekiti at the proposed national conference at his office in Ado-Ekiti, Fayemi charged the federal government to use the opportunity of the proposed national conference to restructure what he described as “defective federal system” being operated in the country.
Members included Chef Oladeji Fasuan, Prof. Akin Oyebode, Dr Kunle Olajide, Prof. Olabisi Aina, Oba Adamo Babalola and Bishop Felix Ajakaye.

Fayemi, who urged them not to betray the confidence reposed in them, expressed delight at the wide acceptability that had greeted the selection of the delegates, adding that “you could imagine what I would have gone through to arrive at these eminent Ekiti indigenes amongst thousands of qualified people.”

He said: “The delegates are chosen based on their comportment, attainments in lives and based on their integrity. They are people who have contributed to the development of the State.
“Particularly, Chief Deji Fasuan, who will be leading the delegates, we all knew the roles he played for the creation of Ekiti. I have no doubt in me that they will do us proud.”

Responding, on behalf of the delegates, Fasuan said the selection was “a call by history and a challenge by history,” saying that they would do everything humanly possible to give the state the best representation.
Fasuan said members had taken the task with open minds, adding that they would strive hard to present the state’s position on how they should be governed under a federating state.
