It was a rowdy session yesterday afternoon when the ongoing National Conference resumed, as as some delegates could not agree with the leadership of the conference over omission of a motion moved by Chief Dan Nwanyanwu a day before.
Dan Nwanyanwu, representing the Labour Party (LP) had moved that a condolence message should be sent to the families of people affected by the Nyanya bomb blast early Tuesday.
The minutes of the conference did not reflect Chief Dan’s motion but which came earlier before the Kawu-led group.
Reacting to the development, chief Edwin Clack, said he was dissapointed over what the secretariat gave out as minutes of Tuesday plenary.
He said, “If we do not trust ourselves, we suspect one another; there will be no success in this conference. We are pretending. A motion was dully moved; this thing happened about eight o’clock yesterday morning and it was not possible for anybody to write a motion and submit to you, nobody informed me that there was a written motion’ I saw it in the paper, I thought when we moved that motion we all agreed that the motion had been moved not the one that was misconceived before the action took place. Mr. Chairman, let us see what we can do do build Nigeria.”
Also reacting, Mohammed Maigari from Sokoto said all the delegates were witnesses to the fact that two motions were moved which bothered on insecurity.
On his own, Sen. Ibrahim Mantu said the cause of the dissagrement could be traced to wrong procedure adopted by the chairman. He said the chairman shouldn’t have allowed chief Iwuanyawu to move his motion when there was already a written motion.
The conference therefore adopted the minute as ammended.
