The member representing Orhionmwon South 2 state constituency at Edo state House of Assembly, Barrister Friday Ogierhiakhi, has taken a swipe at the ongoing national conference, saying that it was conveyed to distract Nigerians from the 2015 general elections.
He said the conference was an avenue to squander tax payers money by enriching pockets of few, adding, “it’s conceive to fail.”
Ogierhiakhi, who also berated the composition of delegates, said “the delegates represented themselves and no one else. I don’t know how anyone there can hold out as my representative when I play no role in his or her nomination.”
The All Progressive Congress (APC) legislator stated this when he flagged-off a water project at Ugboko-Niro in Orhiomwon council area.
He said the gesture was aimed at fulfilling his electioneering promises Orhionmwon south and lauded them for their support.
Ogierhiakhi, who lamented that the constituency had been neglected by its leaders, urged the people to fully participate in the APC ward and state congresses scheduled for April, this year, in order to vote out “bad leaders.”
He, however, expressed optimism that the exercise would be devoid of hitches witnessed during the recently concluded party registration in the state.
Speaking at the ceremony, former South-south vice chairman of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, said the hitches witnessed during the APC registration “was because a lot of Nigerians were eager to join the party of change.”
He said the upcoming congresses are a family affair, adding: “We are not envisaging any problem because we in APC are democratic; and we will want to showcase that to Nigerians.”
