Confed Cup: Cash strapped Bayelsa Utd risk walkover

Cash-strapped Bayelsa United are in danger of being walked over in the CAF Confederation Cup as they are stranded in Nigeria hours to the tie in Congo.

Bayelsa face AS Kondzo of Congo in Brazzaville tomorrow by 2.30pm Nigerian time.
Officials said they are yet to receive cash from Bayelsa state Government for their flight tickets and allowances for the trip to Congo after they personally sourced funds to secure entry visas for the team.
Bayelsa United chairman, Akpofini Odogwu, told MTNFootball.com: “We’re under serious pressure as money has not been released to us by government for the trip.”

The players are still in Ijebu-Ode, where they have been training for the first round first leg clash, while the chairman and secretary are sweating it out in Yenagoa.
An official hinted MTNFootball.com they might be forced to charter a flight later yesterday so as to meet up this match.
Last year, another Nigerian club, Heartland FC, were walked over in the same competition after they failed to meet up their return leg match against US Bitam of Gabon.
