Confirmed! Ibrahimovic moves to new club after MLS voyage

Zlatan Ibrahimovic next move in football has been confirmed – with the Swede becoming co-owner of Swedish side Hammarby.

Former Manchester United striker Ibrahimovic remains a free agent after leaving LA Galaxy following a two-year spell in MLS , where he scored 52 goals in just 56 games.

And he is continuing to search for a new club to continue his playing career.

But Sweden’s greatest-ever goalscorer has now been confirmed as a part-owner in the Allsvenskan side.

Ibrahimovic sparked rumours on Tuesday that he was set to continue his playing career with Hammarby, after an Instagram post showing the back of the club’s kit bearing his name.

However, Hammarby’s head of communications Axel Pershagen, stated that a move had not taken place: “Zlatan has not joined us yet. If he had signed a contract, it would be on our website”.

Hammarby coach Stefan Billborn also told DN in Sweden: “I’d be really surprised if Zlatan came to us, I don’t believe it”.

Yet Ibrahimovic has now confirmed that he has become a part owner in the club, after purchasing half of the  Anschutz Entertainment Group’s share in the Stockholm side. AEG are also the main investors in LA Galaxy.

That gives Ibrahimovic a 22.5 percent stake in the side, who finished third in the Allsvenskan in 2019.

“Hammarby is a fantastic club with passionate supporters and has great respect in both Stockholm and Sweden,” said Ibrahimovic.

“I have always liked the club and the fans, since then I am impressed with what the club has done in recent years, both on and off the pitch.

“Being able to join and develop Hammarby forward feels both fun and exciting,
