Confusion as Imo assembly Speaker resigns 48 hours after swearing- in

Forty-eight hours after being sworn-in as Speaker replacing Acho Ihim, Hon Lawnan Duruji has resigned as Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, thus throwing the whole state into confusion.

Although no official reason was given for his resignation, it was gathered that Duruji who Tuesday promised to work in harmony with his colleagues and Governor Emeka Ihedioha to move the state forward resigned on personal grounds.

Some hours after the Tuesday’s swearing-in, those legislators who voted against him had meeting with members of his group where they established that he would not be able to get things done the way they would  want, after which they advised him to resign.

His opponent in that Tuesday’s election, Hon Chinedu Offor, has since been sworn-in, thus making it the 3rd Speaker Imo state would be having in one week.
