Confusion rocks Osun govt over missing COVID-19 patient

There seems to be misunderstanding and confusion among the officials of Osun state government over the handling of Coronavirus pandemic in the state.

The statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mrs Funke Egbemode and the deputy governor, Gboyega Alabi, Saturday, contradicted, thus creating confusion.

About six ivorian returnees who have been tested positive were alleged to have escaped from the isolation centre in Ejigbo.

Meanwhile, a statement issued by the Commissioner said the State Government of Osun has found the only person who reportedly absconded from the Isolation centre in Ejigbo earlier today.

The statement said the woman has been returned to the isolation centre.

She said that the State government was still in the process of tracing individuals she might have come in contact with. The Commissioner also noted that security within and around the Isolation centre has been beefed up.

But, in an interview with news men at the isolation centre in Ejigbo, the Deputy Governor who led the government team debunked the report, saying “nobody is missing.

Asking why the same government issued a statement that it was only one person that escaped, the Deputy Governor said “wait for the Governor to address the press on that.

“They are all in here. Though we have some aggressive people among them who just don’t want to stay or that they should be given unnecessary attention, that is why we are having heavy security here.

“We have 17 and they are here. Nobody that tested positive from the returning is missing.”
