Confusion trails APC Congress, candidates call for nullification in Plateau

Confusion has trailed the conduct of Jos North Local Government Congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC), just as candidates alleged over voting in the exercise that lasted two days.

A petition addressed to the Chairman APC Congress committee which was also made available to Blueprint in Jos, issued by the Abdulnasir Campaign Organization, called for the cancellation of the congress.

“The purported Local Government Election was conducted in an atmosphere of rancour and confusion as exhibited during the congress,” the petition read in parts.

According to it, how could constituted four hundred thirty four (434) delegates suddenly produce seven hundred (700) votes at the end of the said exercise.
It further alleged that: “A clear case of over voting with 286 votes,” adding that “The clear case calls for total nullification of the congress as null and void.”

The petitioners gave the breakdown of votes scored per chairmanship candidates with, Yakubu Hassan scoring 348 votes, Abdulnasir Saleh 111, Hon. Shehu Liti 220, and Danladi Kulito 7, while 14 votes were declared as invalid votes, making the total of 700 votes casted.
“This indicates an over voting of 226 votes,” it alleged.
Our correspondent gathered that the election guidelines did not stipulate what will be the outcome of a result which has in it the act of over voting.
