Consensus: Mob attack Yari’s convoy as 7 guber aspirants kick

Zamfara state Governor, Abdul’aziz Yari yesterday escaped lynching by the aggrieved members of the All Pro- gressives Congress (APC) along Lalan Bypass, Gusau, reportedly over the adoption of a governorship candidate as consensus.
The governor’s convoy was attacked by supporters of the seven aggrieved governorship aspirants, including his deputy, Malam Ibrahim Wakkala, who jointly organised a rally in Gusau to protest the adoption of.
The incident occurred around 5: 30 pm while the seven aspirants and their supporters were coming into Gusau, the state capital from Abuja for their rally and in the process, the irate crowd attacked the governor’s convoy and destroyed glasses some number of his vehicles glasses before the mobile police and governor’s security operatives could disperse the crowd and pave the way for the governor to narrowly escaped through Mareri quarters.
In the same vein, Governor Abdulaziz Yari has cautioned supporters of APC and all law abiding citizens to desist from any form of violence being fuelled by unlawful associations and individuals.
This is contained in a statement issued to newsmen signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Enlightenment, Media and Communications, Hon.
Ibrahim Magaji Dosara in Gusau yesterday.
According to him, Yari said any law abiding citizen needed to respect the peaceful atmosphere concerning politics in Zamfara.
Governor Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar made the comment while reacting to attack on his convoy at Lalan round- about on his way to an official assign- ment by some political thugs, stressing that his administration had directed all loyalists, especially youth leaders to enlighten all grassroots supporters about the benefits of peace in relations to all political associations and gathering.
Governor Yari further added that, his administration had done a lot to stop loyalists and all youths especially supporters of APC not to engage in any activity that could endanger the long political calmness amongst political associations and parties in the state
