Constitution review: Speakers hail stakeholders over speedy passage

Conference of Speakers of state Houses of Assembly has commended all major stakeholders involved the ongoing constitution amendment exercise for exhibiting a great spirit of patriotism in passing the amendments.
The Conference in a communique issued after its 2018 first quarter general meeting held in Gusau, Zamfara State, signed by its caretaker chairman and Speaker of Kebbi State House of Assembly, Hon.
Abdulmumin Kamba, and obtained by our reporter, has also called on President Muhammadu Buhari, to equally ensure speedy assent to the Bills, when transmitted by the National Assembly.
Also on the recent death of Senator Ali Wakili, the Conference condoled with the immediate family, the members of the National Assembly and the people of Bauchi State over the sad development, as it prayed for the repose of his soul, and fortitude of the family to beat the loss.
Going further, the communique reads; “The Conference appealed to the relevant security agencies to intensify their efforts with a view to curbing the nefarious activities of the criminally-minded people who have been terrorizing the innocent people across the country”.
It also announced the dissolution of its Executive Committee and set up a Caretaker Committee to conduct elections for the new Execitive committee.
“The following are the members of the new Caretaker Committee;Speaker, Kebbi: Rt Hon Abdulmumin Ismaila Kamba (NW Chairman), Speaker, Enugu: Rt Hon Edward Ubosi (SE Deputy Chairman), Speaker,Yobe: Rt Hon Adamu Dala Dogo (NE Treasurer), Speaker, Plateau: Rt Hon Peter Azi (NC Memeber), Speaker, Ondo: Rt Hon Oleyelogun Bamidele David (SW Member) and Speaker, Delta Rt Hon Sherriff Oborevwori (SS Member).
