Consumers lament poor power supply despite AEDC’s 340.67MW allocation

Electricity consumers in Abuja on Tuesday took a swipe at the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) over poor power supply to them despite receiving about 300MW from the national grid.

A check by our Reporter revealed that as at 6.am on Tuesday a total of 3.229.50MW was generated, out of which 340.67MW was allocated to the AEDC.

The company, in a post on its verified Facebook page @ Abuja Electricity Distribution Plc, also confirmed the load allocation.

But reacting to the development on the AEDC’s page, an electricity consumer, Ephraim Umoh, said the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) estate at Lugbe, has been experiencing power outage since Sunday, and called on the company to urgently rectify it.

He said: “Please, there have been power outage in a sector of FHA Lugbe since on Sunday. You guys should do something about it. It’s no longer funny. Many days of power outage in Lugbe is getting someone annoyed. We are human, we need electricity. Kindly rectify the problem quickly and let power be restored.

Also, another consumer, Daniels Oladipupo, alleged that the company was only active on the social media, and asked it to channel its energy to constant power supply.

“Here they come again; you are so consistent on social media. If you can be half as this in carrying out your primary assignment, people will appreciate you more. Imagine your customers begging you for just 8hrs light a day. This is pure wickedness”, he alleged.

On her, Esther Omede Salvation, said Agwangede Kuje did not have light for three weeks, and accused the company of non challant attitude.

She said: “When are we going to ever experience light again in Agwangede Kuje? It is obvious that this company is useless. I’ve been saying this for over three weeks now and all you say is rubbish cos nothing is done”.

Also, a resident of Saburi 11 in Dei Dei, Nonso Kyrian, said the community had experienced a power outage for one week and called on the company to rectify it.

However, efforts to get reactions from the Chief Marketing Officer of AEDC, Mr. Donald Etim, were futile but the company in reaction to all the complaints on its page apologised to all the complainants.
