Chairman of Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and Sardaunan Katsina, Alhaji Ibrahim Coomassie has tasked northern governors on the need to work together to fashion out a northern agenda that will take care of all the various interests in the region.
Coomassie stated this yesterday while presenting a paper at the on-going retreat organised by the Northern Senators Forum (NSF) in Katsina.
He noted that, for the region not to be caught pants down, there was the need for all critical stakeholders to mobilise people of the North to develop areas of comparative advantage to, according to him, “forestall any eventuality.”
“There is the need to fast-track our efforts at unity through all NGO’s fighting and struggling for the North and its people. The time has come for all the northerners to accommodate our differences and burry our grudges and misunderstanding and work very hard for the interest of our people,” he added.
The former IGP called on relevant stakeholders not to turn out the 2014 national conference to another exercise in futility like others before it, stressing that this could be averted if the government and the legislature resolved to see the implementation of the conference resolution.
The former IG said those that tried to scuttle the conference and smuggled fake documents into the new draft constitution for the country were at it again, alleging that this time around they are using their ownership and control of the media to advocate for a referendum as a means of implementing the resolution of the conference.
Coomassie noted that, out of desperation, they have embarked on insulting and casting aspersions on the national and state houses of assembly, calling on the federal government to take urgent steps to stop them.
