Cooperate with military, paramilitary to end insecurity, NSCDC tells Nigerians

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Akwa Ibom Command has called on Nigerians to cooperate with all security agencies to defeat insecurity in the country.
The state Commandant of NSCDC, Mr. Abidemi Majekodunmi, said this in his maiden press briefing in Uyo at the weekend.
Majekodunmi said modern security management was driven by information which the security agencies need in combating kidnapping, banditry, and other heinous crimes facing the nation.

“Crimes are committed by human beings not ghost and criminals are part of the community, all of us should be security conscious.
“The need to see something and say same is very essential as part of the social contract between the government and the citizens.
“Government cannot exist in isolation but through the support of the people. The people must play the corresponding side of the obligation to support the government.
“Government is the representation of the people. Nigeria is so fortunate to be a democratic nation and participation is the cardinal aspect of the game,” Majekodunmi said.

The commandant said NSCDC was committed to the protection of government assets and critical infrastructure from vandals.
“Civil Defense is an establishment that is saddled with cardinal objectives, among which are to ensure that we fight vandals in such a way that the Nigeria economy is protected.
“We also have the responsibility to ensure the protection of critical national infrastructure,” he said.

The commandant said the unity of the nation remained sacrosanct as provided by the law, adding that security agencies would continue to play their role in protecting the territorial integrity of the nation.
