Coronavirus: Jigawa prepares special package for frontline medical personnel

Jigawa state governor, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has announced a special new package to be paid on daily basis to the state’s front line health care personnel working round the clock to prevent the spread of the virus.

He said, “In order to motivate front line health workers working on COVID-19, we have approved upward review of daily stipend of doctors and other categories of health workers up to N10,000, depending on category.”

Badaru stated this while addressing reporters Wednesday in his residence in Dutse. He  stated further that, “we have also opened up discussion with insurance companies on health and life insurance for those health workers at the frontline fighting COVID-19 pandemic.”

He announced that out 118 confirmed cases in two isolation facilities,  the state has discharged seven coronavirus patients following a successful cure of the ailment.

Badaru said the total confirmed 118 cases of COVID-19 are found in eight out of the 27 local government areas of the state.

“Out of the 118 patients, 63 are almajiria deported from Kano, representing 53 percent of the total patients load in the state”, he stated.

The governor said modeling expert have projected that, with the best case scenario, Jigawa might have up to 8000 COVID-19 cases during this pandemic.

He  said the state is currently on 14 percent best case scenario and at 0.6 percent of worst case scenario projection of 20,000 cases.
