Corruption bane of Nigeria’s growth- Gov Sule

The Nasarawa state governor Engr, Abdullahi Sule, Thursday described corruption as major bane of Nigerian’s growth and development over the years and charged citizens in the state to shun unpatriotic and corrupt practices.

He made the charged at the AU rally to drum home support for recovery of stolen assets in Lafia.

The governor who was represented by his deputy Dr,Emmanuel Akabe, said corruption has continued to bedevil the country and created a disastrous impact on governance and socio- economic advancement of the country.

“If the assets of this country were property managed Nigeria would have been a better place by now”.

He advised citizens particularly the youths in the state to embrace positive principles and be patriotic change agents by influencing their environment positively through their conduct.

” We need to fight corruption out, because it has eaten deeply in our system and we must stand up and say no to corruption the youths should be instrumental to this”. He said.

Governor Sule however, called on leaders who have been given a privilege to hold position not to be selfish.

 “A good leader is not supposed to be selfish but selfless, what does not belongs to him he doesn’t want it and he doesn’t take it, and for those who have stolen assets please they should return them back  EFCC will pardon them”. Sule said.

Earlier, chairperson Coalition of Unions Against Corruption in the state, Hajiya Maryam Ibrahim Osuza said they have resolved to engage the citizenry as well as governments in the fight against corruption.
