Council boss urges support for govt programmes, policies

The Chairman of Abaji Area Council, Alhaji Yahaya Garba Gawu, has called on Nigerians to support government policies and programmes for the overall development of the country.
He said the lack of support from the people put the morale of the government officials into question in terms of working for the people.
He said people’s support and prayers “can never be over emphasised in terms of boosting the officials’ morale in executing people-oriented projects.”

Gawu, who made the call as a Democracy Day message to Nigerians, particularly the people of Abaji, congratulated Nigerians, especially the President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Sen. Bala Mohammad, for witnessing uninterrupted democracy since 1999.
He said democracy had, to a large extent, “brought about development in all spheres of endeavours.”
The chairman, however, said this year’s Democracy Day should be used by all citizens for prayers “so that we can overcome the security challenges in the country.”
