Council chair hails traditional institution’s role in democracy

The chairman of Gwagwalada area council, Honourable  Adamu Mustapha Danze has praised the role of the traditional institution in the sustenance of Nigeria’s democracy.

The chairman made this assertion during a courtesy visit to the Aguma of Gwagwalada,  Alhaji Muhammadu Magaji in his palace in Gwagwalada, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, Tuesday 28, January 2020.

He  said government will continue to show respect  for the traditional institutions.

He stated further that traditional rulers are the foundation on which Nigeria’s democracy rests.

“He said whenever there are challenges, when communities are fighting, when there is unrest by ordinary people, government at all levels from the president to governors  and local council’s level, will have to call on traditional rulers to prevail on the people to help in the maintenance of law and order in the affected areas.

“I want to assure you that I will deliver the greatest good to the greatest number of Gwagwalada area council. I will respect the traditional rulers, I will always consult them and I will carry them along in all that we do.

“We cannot go wrong when we connect with traditional rulers at the grassroots level.”

He stated  that a nation must celebrate based on the quality of life of the ordinary man more than the traditional ruler who lives with them. I want to assure you, your Highness that we have no alternative.

“By the special grace of God, we will continue to deliver to people of Gwagwalada area Council.”
