Council polls: I’ll carry all ethnic groups along – APC flag-bearer

The flag-bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gwagwalada area council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Alhaji Abubakar Giri, has assured that every ethnic group “will be represented in the next cabinet and provided with equal opportunities to grow like the original inhabitants.”

Giri, who seeks to run for chairman in the February 2022 FCT election, assured that preferential treatment “will not be given to indigenes at the expense of other ethnic groups in the Council.”

He made the promise while addressing newsmen and party supporters who paid him a courtesy visit during the Sallah holidays.

The aspirant urged his supporters to take the campaign of equality to every nook and cranny of the territory to ensure victory for the party.

He also urged the council’s out-going administration to provide the necessary funding to enable contractors handling various projects to complete them before the administration “leaves office at the middle of next year.”

“I have followers from every tribe and people follow me because I practise politics without bitterness or discrimination. We will give every tribe equal treatment in appointments, allocation of amenities and other areas. People have seen that I am open and I give people a listening ear. That is the magic. Any tribe or person who gives APC support this time around will not regret it,” he said.

In a separate interview with newsmen on the matters raised by the aspirant, the chairman of Gwagwalada area council, Alhaji Adamu Danze, said no on-going project would be leftover for the incoming administration.

He said, “I am assuring the people today that we will complete the projects we initiated and we will not leave any uncompleted projects for the next administration.

“We have made provisions to ensure that we tidy up everything we have initiated so that the next government will not be left with liabilities. This is my assurance and we mean what we promised,” he said.
