Count Kogi Govt out of Melaye’s travails- Achuba

Yola
Kogi state Deputy Governor, Mr. Simon Achuba, has distanced the state government from the ongoing recall process of the senator representing Kogi West senatorial district, Sen Dino Melaye.
He said the state government is not INEC, and could therefore not be responsible Dino’s travails.
The deputy governor made this clarification in an interview with journalists in Yola, at the weekend where he attributed the stiff opposition being faced by Governor Yaya Bello’s administration in the state to some disgruntled politicians opposed to the change being introduced by the administration for the betterment of the masses of the state.
“The state government is not behind Dino’s travail; so the answer is simply no! Mind you, we are not INEC. The issue is, there is change in governance and you are trying to introduce something new, and the old order will resist it, and that is what we are experiencing in Kogi state,” he said.
He explained that, as a growing nation, Nigeria must continue to plan, restructure and put ideas together for the betterment of the country, adding that the same process is what the APC intends to follow, with the ongoing public hearing on restructuring and true federalism.
Achuba also expressed optimism that, at the end of the exercise, after going through due process, the recommendations would be implemented by his party and Nigeria would be better for it.
He commended Adamawa state government for the reception accorded them and scored the exercise high on the quality of presentations by the various individuals and groups in the state.
