Court affirms Plateau Reps member-elect

The Jos division of the Federal High Court has dismissed a pre-election suit against a House of Representatives member-elect, Konsol Alphonsus, on an alleged forgery of Primary School Living certificate.

Komsol had defeated Joe Bukar during the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Shandam/Mikang/Quan’pan federal constituency.

However, Bukar filed a suit before the high court alleging that Komsol’s school living certificate of being “forged.”

He averred that, the court should disqualify Komsol and ordered the APC to submit his name to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as its valid candidate in the last 2019 general elections.

But the first respondent presented a school living certificate, which he said was obtained from RCC Primary School, Kalong in Shendam local government area of Plateau state.

Accordingly, Justice Musa Kurya of the high court dismissed the case for lack merit and reaffirmed Komsol’s qualification to contest in the elections.

Reacting to the judgment, Konsol said the judgment was a victory to his constituents, and reaffirmation of his people’s mandate for him to represent them.

“The certificate was given to me by the organisation, the meaning of forgery is where I go and fabricated it and the organisation will come to deny,” he said.

According to him that the school has not denied issuing him the certificate, the court has done justice, adding that the judiciary being the last hope of the common man, should extend same justice to manner of people.
