Court dismisses suit against Hon Komsol’s qualification in Plateau

The Jos division of the Federal High Court has dismissed a pre-election suit against a House of Representatives member-elect, Hon. Konsol Alphonsus, on an alleged forgery of primary school leaving certificate.

Hon. Komsol defeated Joe Bukar during the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Shandam/Mikang/Quan’pan Federal Constituency.

However, Hon. Bukar filed a suit before the High Court alleging the school leaving certificate of Komsol being the first respondent was, ‘forged.’

He asked the court disqualify Hon. Komsol and ordered APC to submit his name to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as its valid candidate in the last 2019 general election.

Justice Musa Kurya however, in his ruling dismissed the case for lack merit. It reaffirmed his qualification to contest in the elections.

Reacting to the judgment while fielding questions from journalists, Hon. Konsol said the judgment was a victory to his constituents, and reaffirmation of the people’s mandate on him.
