Court grants bail to 3 men charged with joint act, negligence

An Abuja Grade 1 Area Court in Kado yesterday granted bail to Aba Otega, Ali Hamisu and Asowa Jimoh, charged with joint act and negligent conduct.
The accused, Otega, 20, Hamisu, 32, and Jimoh, 25, who are all security guards with Halogen Security Company, opposite Chida Hotel, Utako, Abuja, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The presiding officer, Malam Abubakar Sadiq, admitted them to bail for N5, 000 with one surety each who must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction.
He adjourned the case until May 19, for further hearing.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt. Simon Ibrahim, told the court that John Achor of J.U. Associates, Wuse 2, Abuja, reported the matter at the Utako Police Station on April 10.

Ibrahim said the accused were negligent by allowing unknown persons to gain access into the premises and steal three LG television sets and other valuables.

He added that some items belonging to a tenant, who is currently not in the country, were also stolen, adding that the value of the items had not been confirmed by the police.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the Penal Code. (NAN)
