A High Court in Nasarawa state, sitting at Akwanga, has restrained the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from conducting local government congresses scheduled to hold on March 21, 2020.
A suit number NSD/AKW.6/2020 seen by Blueprint on Friday, in Lafia, filed by Idris Jidde and 14 others against the PDP, challenging the ward and local government areas’ congresses said to have been conducted on March 7, 2020, that no such congresses took place in Nasarawa state.
The applicants had filed a motion exparte before Justice Mustapha A. Ramat of the High Court praying the court to restraint the PDP from conducting the scheduled local government congresses pending the hearing and determination of motion on notice already filed.
Justice Ramat had ordered the PDP that status quo be maintained ante by staying all action in relation to the subject matter or claim of the plaintiffs’ suit pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice for interlocutory injunction filed in the suit.
Upon the consideration of motion exparte dated March 18, 2020, and filed on March 9, 2020, supported by a 28 paragraphs affidavit dully deposed to by one Alhaji Idris Jidde and the PDP chairman for Akwanga local government of Nasarawa state seeking reliefs.
The judge held that, “After hearing the submission of Ishaka M. Dikko Esq. counsel to the plaintiffs/applicants and the facts containing, it is hereby ordered that all the reliefs sought are hereby granted pending the determination of motion on notice.
“The defendants are hereby restrained in the interim case is further adjourned to March 20, 2020, motion notice.”
