Court orders fresh election in Abia APGA governorship primaries

The Federal High Court in Abuja has nullified the All Progressives Grand Alliance governorship (APGA) primary election held on May 29, 2022.

Subsequently, the presiding judge has given a 14-day ultimatum for the conduction of a new primary election.

Although Udensi had urged the court to declare him the winner in place of Ibe, the court resorted to order for a fresh primary to be conducted.

Justice Binta Nyako gave the order following a suit filed by a governorship aspirant, Chief Chikwe Udensi, challenging the outcome of the primary election.

Udensi, it would be recalled went to court after losing the election to Professor Greg Ibe.

‘From evidence and testimonies of witnesses, the May 29 primary election was “flawed and marred with irregularities.” Justice Nyako ruled.

Chief Udensi lost to Professor Ibe at the APGA primaries, but headed to court to challenge the outcome of the election.
