Court orders hairdresser to pay N40, 000 compensation to employer

A Kado Upper Area Court in the FCT yesterday ordered a 25-year-old hairdresser, Inamesit Ufot, of Mpape Village, Abuja, to pay N40, 000 as compensation to her employer.

The presiding judge, Mr Abubakar Sadiq, gave the order after Ufot pleaded guilty to a two-count charge of criminal breach of trust and cheating.
Sadiq also ordered that the accused must provide a surety that would stand for her and ensure she paid the compensation.
Earlier, the police prosecutor, Sgt. Buba Irimiya, told the court that Eniobong Sampson, of Suite 122, Queen Fem Plaza, Wuse 2 Abuja, lodged a report against the accused at the Utako Police Station on April 7.

Irimiya said the complainant entrusted her salon to the accused with an understanding that she would be remitting N20, 000 to her monthly.
The prosecutor said that the accused failed to remit money for two months and fled to an unknown destination.
He said efforts made by the complainant to trace the accused did not yield results, until she was arrested by the police.
Irimiya said the offence contravened the Penal Code. (NAN)
