Court remands 2 in Osun for attempt murder

A Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo, Osun state capital, on Wednesday, remanded two persons, Hammed Yusuf (31) and Lekan Afolabi (27), for attempt murder.

The accused persons were alleged to have attempted to kill one Emmanuel Ayodeji, when they hit him with iron rod and plank on his head and body.

The police prosecutor, Mr Elisha Olusegun, told the court that the accused committed the purported crime on June 30, 2019 at Sabo area, Osogbo.

The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the two count charges of conspiracy and attempt murder preferred against them by the police.

Their Counsels, Messrs Taiwo Awokunle and Asiyanbi Kunle, urged the court to grant their clients bail in the most liberal terms, promising that they will stand their trial.

The presiding Magistrate, Mr Olusegun Ayilara, refused oral bail and directed the counsels to file a formal application for the bail of the accused persons.

The Magistrate ordered that the accused be remanded in Ilesa prison and adjourned the matter to July 17, 2019 for ruling on bail application.
