Court remands 3 for alleged exam malpractice in Osun


A Magistrate court sitting in Osogbo, Osun state capital, on Thursday, remanded three people for alleged examination malpractices in West Africa Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE).


The defendants, Taofeek Badmus Busari, Adeyinka Afolabi Adeoye and Sulaiman Isah, were arraigned before magistrate Adijat Oloyede on a three count charges. 


According to the charge sheet, the defendants were caught cheating at African senior school Osogbo on 17 September, 2019.


The alleged offended were said to be contrary to and punishable under section 1( d) and punishable under section 1 (2) (c) of the Examination Malpractice Act 1999.


The charge sheet reads in part: that Taofeek Badamasi Busari, Adeyinka Afolabi Adeoye and Sulaiman Isah, were cheating in examination (WASSCE), anf thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 1(2) of the Examination Malpractices Act, 1999.


The three defendants however, pleaded not guilty to the four count charges levelled against them by the police. 


The presiding Magistrate, Mrs Adijat Oloyede, thereby ordered that the defendants be remanded in Ilesa Medium Security Custodial Centre, and adjourned the case to January 9, 2020 for hearing
