Court remands 6 for ‘economic sabotage, forgery’ in Rivers

Rivers State Police have arraigned six persons before a magistrate court sitting in Port Harcourt on two counts charge bothering on alleged economic sabotage, forgery and printing of affidavit/public document racketeering. 

Esther Monica- Sylvester, Gift Godwin, Mary Effiong, Virasi Gbarabe, lrene Anthony and Comfort Jude are alleged to have been carrying out the act around the premises of the court along station road Port Harcourt. 

According to the charges, the activities of the suspects are causing loss of revenue to High Court which is an offence punishable under section of criminal law of Rivers State, saying that the arrest of the suspects who pleaded not quilty to the charges is the effort of the administrative officers of the High Court of the state. 

Blueprint correspondent reports that the presiding Chief Magistrate, Omonigho Nwibani, after listening to the counsel representing the parties on bail application, adjourned till February 14, 2023 for bail application. 

Chief Magistrate Nwibani thereafter directed that the suspects be remanded in Port Harcourt Correctional Center till the next adjourned date.
