Court remands ex-banker, hubby

A Benin High Court, presided over by Justice Ohimai Ovbiagele, has remanded former manager of the United Bank for Africa, Mrs. Florence Onome Odior, her husband, Sunday Odior and two others in prison custody for allegedly defrauding one Moses Obozohae , a customer of N55, 840. Th e accused persons were arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a 19 count charge in suit No .B/ CD/ 1/ 2017 for fraud, stealing, conspiracy and converting the said amount to personal use.

Th e ex-bank manager, Florence was alleged to have defrauded, uttered a forged document titled: TD 0990001445 and dated August 2, 2012 to Moses Obozokhae as genuine. Th ey (accused persons) had approached the Court for bail application. Th e 1st and 2nd accuse persons counsel, Mrs. E .C Ekejiube had argued that the accused persons had always reported to the EFCC offi ce as requested. Th e counsel also told the court that the 2nd accused person, Sunday Odior was the husband of the 1st accused person, Florence, adding that they both have children as well as aged parents whom he said, they were taking care of. However, opposing the ball application in an affi davit sworn to, counsel to EFCC, Mustapha Aliu , pleaded with the court to refuse the bail application, as the accuse persons were always failing to report during the administrative bail granted to them by the agency.
