Justice Kudirat Akano, yesterday, remanded the leader of Jafariyah Islamic sect, Kareem Yusuf, and four others in prison custody for allegedly involved in the killing a 400 level student of Osun state University, Timileyin Olufemi Sonibare, for money rituals.
Others remanded alongside Kareem are, Abdurafiu Sakariyah, who was said to be roasting the head of the deceased when caught, Ayuba Ibrahim, Ishaq Yusuf and Abdulkareem Adeoti.
They were said to have committed the crime on the 26th of June, 2017, at Jafariyah Avenue, Oke-Baale Area in Osogbo, the Osun state capital.
The accused were charged with three count charge of conspiracy, murder and misconduct with corpse, contrary to section 516, 319, and 242 and punishable under Section 319(1) of Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol. 11, Laws of Osun state, 2002.
The first and fifth accused, Yusuf and Adeoti, had been on bail, granted them by the magistrate court.
When they were arraigned at the High Court yesterday, the second accused, Sakariyah, pleaded guilty to the charges.
Counsel to the accused, Mr. Kazeem Badmus, urged the court to sustain the earlier bail granted his clients by the magistrate court.
The state prosecutor led by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Ajibola Basiru, opposed the oral bail of the counsel, saying the accused were just arraigned at the High Court and called the attention of the court to the absence of two sureties to the accused persons.
Justice Akano therefore ordered that the accused be remanded in Ilesa prison and adjourned the matter till December 15 for hearing.
