Court remands labourer for ‘stealing’ cell phone

An Upper Area Court in Gwagwalada, FCT, has remanded a 22-year old labourer,  Ezekiel Orlyyam, in prison for allegedly stealing a cell phone.
Orlyyam, who resides at Passo in Gwagwalada, was arraigned on a four-count charge of criminal trespass, house breaking, theft and escaping from lawful custody.
The judge, Alhaji Alhassan Kusherki, gave the order for his remand when Orlyyam pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Kusherki adjourned the matter till July 17, for hearing.

The prosecutor, Inspector Martha Paul, had told the court that the accused criminally trespassed and broke into the room of one Abel John and stole his cell phone on May 17.
Paul said the cell phone, valued N7, 000, was recovered from the accused.
She said that the offences contravened Sections 348, 346, 287 and 172 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
