Court remands man, 20, for stealing stabilizer in Osun

An Osun State Magistrate’s court, sitting in Osogbo, the state capital, has ordered a 20-year-old man, Wahab Shalban, to be remanded in Ilesha prison custody for stealing stabilizer and other items that worth N130,500.

He was arraigned on two count charges bothering on felony to wit house breaking and stealing.

The prosecutor, Inspector Olayiwola Rasaq, said the accused and others at large, committed the offence on June 8 at about 2.am at Oke-ola Street, Osogbo.

He said the accused broke into the shop of one Quadir Lukuman and carted away some items in the shop.

According to him, the items are four Stabilizers (20,000 Watt) valued N48,000, three blenders, 12 standing fans, wires, and four ceiling fans.

All the items purportedly stolen by the accused valued N130,500, according to the Prosecutor.

The alleged offence contravened section 516 and punishable under section 390 (9) of the criminal code cap 34, Vol 11. Laws of Osun State, 2003.

However, the accused admitted guilty of the offence. His counsel, Mr Remigus Ngwu, prayed the court to be merciful with him, promising that he would change for good.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs O. A. Oloyade, ordered that the accused be remanded in Ilesha prison custody and thereby adjourned the case to June 28 for police to present the fact of the case.
